Our Process

Read about our process below:
We pride ourselves in handcrafting each piece of jewelry completely by hand from start to finish. We hand carve each piece of jade, and turn each of them into jewelry by hand picking findings, or crafting custom bezels by hand. At GIADORA, no two pieces are the same, each piece is individually created for hours from scratch, one at a time.

Our process is born from creative roots and a curiosity about what Jade has to offer. After a life of dentistry and artwork such as sculptures, carvings, and abstract oil paintings, John used his creative skills to begin carving Jade.
Each piece is hand carved from raw Jade rocks. We never buy pre cut or templated pieces, we always get real jade rocks and create art from the stones natural patterns and fractures.

After carving, each stone is hand polished through many steps and layers of material. Each piece of jade holds a completely different polish, so there is no way to master this step. We must listen to each stone and understand the type of polish it accepts. Some stones never get to a shiny polish, but rather hold a natural matte finish which we think is beautiful. Even pieces cut from the same rock will hold a different polish, so this step of the process is definitely the most tedious!
Once the piece is polished, John hands it off to Ali to make the jewelry come to life. Based on the shape, size, and finish of the stone, Ali will either hand craft a custom silver bezel to encase the stone, or pick out a finding to accent the stone. Some pieces are better accented with gold or silver, so we pick whatever we think compliments the stone best!
